Valor Fitness BD-9 Power Squat Stands Features and Specifications
With a maximum bar height of 75 inches (~190 cm), a minimum bar height (main bar catch) of 49.5 inches (~126 cm), and a maximum recommended weight of 350 pounds (~160kg), Valor BD-9 is made with heavy lifting in mind - units are built using 13-gauge 2x2 inches (5x5 cm) steel tubing.
Valor Fitness BD-9 Power Squat Stands can be positioned on various surfaces, carpets included, but for maximum stability, position them on surfaces like concrete and similar.
Also, fixing the stands directly to the floor using bolts is possible, but that is not supported officially.
Fortunately, the base is adjustable and can be extended from 20 inches (~51 cm) to 28 inches (~71 cm). Extending the base gives it a bigger footprint, and with the added weight, it is rather stable. This is still far from squat racks, especially squat cages, but better than most squat stand models.
On the other hand, after one finishes a workout, posts can be lowered to the lowest position and stored away easily - something that can't be done with a squat rack or cage.
Additionally, Valor Fitness BD-9 Power Squat Stands come with a bar lock, preventing the bar from falling off the stand, a safety catch, allowing the trainee to "drop" the bar if the lift is unsuccessful, and additional bar catch, which allows the trainees to use Valor Fitness BD-9 Power Squat Stands with flat, incline and even decline benches, extending the list of possible exercises.
Nonetheless, despite having these safety features, which many similar stands don't have, having a spotter during squats and other exercises with heavy loads is highly recommended.
When a squat rack is not an option for various reasons, squat stands are a great addition to a home gym - personally, commercial gyms should use at least squat racks, preferably cages.
As said before, numerous exercises can be done using this squat stand - practically any exercise that requires a bar (straight or EZ bar) to be positioned at a certain height.
