Valor Athletics BD-7 Power Rack with Lat Pull Attachment
Valor Athletics BD-7 Power Rack with Lat Pull Attachment is popular and versatile squat cage, available at decent price. It can be used for several additional exercises and is robust enough almost for commercial gyms - perfect squat cage for most of the home gyms.
Valor Athletics BD-7 power rack is made from a 5x5 cm (2x2 inches) steel main frame.
It has 4 weight plate storage pegs suitable for storing weights - additional weights increase the mass of the system, requiring strong floor, but also make this system more stable.
Power rack comes with 4 solid steel, chrome adjustable weight bar supports, which are more than enough, even if two lifters (of different height) are working out at the same time.
Cage has 2 solid steel safety pins, with 17 variable positions (holes in the steel main frame) for safety pins and weight bars support, that are ranging in height from 44.5 to 172 cm (17.5 to 68 inches).
One of the interesting features is foam covered bar suitable for curls and other exercises (like seated and upright rows etc.) that require low pulley system.
Also, there is a solid steel pull-up bar with grips - as fixed pull-up bar, one can use one of the frame bars of the cage itself.
Outer dimensions are 120x161x208 cm (47x63.5x82 inches), inner dimensions are 99x110x203 cm (39x43.5x80 inches) and it weighs around 61kg (135 lbs.) without bars and weight plates.
Max weight on lat pull down is 113 kg (250 lbs), while max weight for each bar holder is 226 kg (500 lbs).
44.5 cm (17.5 inches) is low enough to be used as a height for safety pins even when Athletics BD-7 cage is used by small framed people, while 172 cm (68 inches) is high enough to be used for squats by people almost 2 m in height. Since inner height is around 203 cm (80 inches), there is little use of making 2-3 more holding holes (2-3 more positions), but it can be done - of course, this will not weaken the construction if done properly, but forget warranty in that case.
Cage is made for use with olympic size bar (2.2m, 7.2 feet), and it shouldn't be used with smaller (6 feet) bars, for safety reasons.
Of course, it doesn't come with bars and weights. Assembly is relatively easy, but before doing it, be sure to read the manual.
All in all, this is very decent squat cage suitable for home gyms and new and intermediate lifters. For commercial gyms - lat pull down system should be removed and entire frame should be done more sturdier.
