Relaxation Exercises

Most of us live our lives at a hectic pace, squeezing as much as we can into our busy days.  With this lifestyle comes stress and few of us are able to recognize it because we are so busy.

Usually the only time we realize we are stressed is when a friend or spouse tells us to "chill" or "relax" because our behavior is impacting them.  So perhaps the best approach is to build relaxation exercises into your daily routine so you're one step ahead of stress.

Add relaxation exercise to your workout

One obvious solution is get involved with some form of exercise that you can do on a regular basis. If you don't know how to get started, there is plenty of information online or at your library on how to exercise.

It's worth the effort to try and do you exercise early in the morning, because you'll feel the benefit throughout the day.  If you visit the gym or work out in your home gym at least three or four times a week, this exercise is not only good for your body health, it is good for your mental health as well.

You don’t even have to go to the gym either. You can jog around your local park, or go for long leisurely walks with your family. As long as you get moving at least a few times a week, you are going to reap the benefits.

If you are at a computer during the day or sit at a desk a lot, get up every hour or so and take a short walk.  Even if it's just to the water cooler, it will help.  And while you walk, breath deeply, and stretch your arms. You can also do relaxation exercises at before you go to bed.

These won’t be intense workouts, but rather sessions of stretching. Stress can make your muscles tight. This makes you feel stressed even more, and you will have a hard time getting a good night of rest. These relaxation exercises can be done near bedtime, and they will even help improve blood flow. When you stretch out the muscles, they will loosen, and you will feel good all over every single time you stretch.

If you don’t know how to go about stretching properly, you can find DVDs that teach relaxation exercises or maybe its timeto learn about yoga. They aren’t that hard, and anyone in almost any state of health can do them. You may find that you can’t sleep without them, but these are things you can do when you are away from home, or even things you can do for a few moments at work when things get tense.

If there is a lot of tension in your household, you may even want to teach your family how to do relaxation exercises so everyone can feel better. You may not realize it, but this might bring a sense of peace to your family that you have never known before.
