Exercise routine

In order to keep exercise fresh and exciting, eliminate the word routine from the term exercise routine.  I prefer to use something like exercise adventures because it implies excitement and the possibility of something new happening!  I want there to be nothing routine about my exercise workout.

That being said, my activites do break down into aerobic and muscle building.  But aerobic doesn't have to mean jumping on the Lifecycle exercise bike each and every day.

Your body needs to be tested and challenged in order to imrpove and stay fresh, and grow. It can mean running for four weeks, then maybe hopping on a home fitness rowing machine for the next four weeks, then joining a spinning class at the YMCA for the next four weeks.

It's easy to fall into a routine, there's that word again, and after a few weeks your body stops getting the maximum benefit because, it's essentially getting bored.

When it comes to building muscle, again, you have several options.  Use dumbbells to even a total body machine.  Or consider using resistance training with an exercise rubber band to tone and grow your muscles.

One of the problems that some people encounter who exercise is finding the motivation to keep at it on a weekly basis. It becomes very easy to slip into the habit of sleeping in and telling oneself to go out for a run.

In the end however, you will feel much better if you develop a more personalized exercise routine that works for you, and not one that you think is what you should be doing.

I have never exercised in the conventional way, and have developed over the years various methods to keep me motivated. Variety in the exercise routine is a great way to keep it fun, and mixing up where and when you exercise will put the enjoyment back into the sport.

Running outside instead of on the treadmill, swimming in the sea instead of a pool, or biking around your town instead of on a stationary bicycle at home in front of the T.V. These are all ways to bring your exercise routine to the ‘Great Outdoors’ that will help breathe new life into what your normal schedule is used to.

Recruiting others to join you in your daily exercise routine can help you break out of a rut and can help the time pass more quickly. Chatting to a friend while you run or while you workout at the gym can keep you motivated.

In the end, it's up to you to create an exercise routine that has plenty of variety in it.  That way it will be unlikey that you'll ever get bored, and will want to exercise each and every day.
